In class I remember you told us that Hydrogen normally displays a -1 charge, but everywhere I check, it says it displays a +1 charge.

Avni I also said the same thing but with more specifications.
If H is with non-metals it has an ON of +1 but make covalent bond with non metals.
Only when H is bonded with metals then it makes ionic compound with -1 ON .Like NaH, CaH2 etc.Hydride is very reactive and unstable.
However with non metals we have H in many covalent molecules.
So generally H is making very less ionic compounds but more covalent molecules.
