Post by: Pranjal Singh on August 07, 2020, 10:50:49 AM
Consider the following reaction involved in the preparation of teflon (-CF2-CF2-)n :-

XeF6 + (-CH2-CH2-)n → (-CF2-CF2-)n +HF + XeF4

Determine the number of moles of XeF6 required for preparation of 100 g teflon.

In Teflon the repeating unit is CF2- CF2 which is also called as monomer
Molar mass of this unit is 100g
Moles of monomer formed = 100/100=1
n=1
in one mole of Teflon we need 4 moles of F which can be provided by 4/6 moles of XeF6
