Ag2S is an insoluable black solud. Whould more solid dissolve, or precipitate once the following are added to the solution.....
1. KS
Would form precipitate because goes up, so rxn shifts to reactants side to form solid, correct?
2. HCLO
3. LiOH
4. NH4OH
Not sure about the others.
Thanks!
Sorry, meant increases so precipitate forms.
Ag2S<---> Ag+ + S2-
2. HClO
this will combine with S2- and form H2S
so this will increase the solubility
NH4OH will make complex with free Ag+ ions and hence will shift the equilibrium to the right and hence the solubility will increase
AgOH will form with hydroxide and AgOH will be converted to Ag2O
Now you can predict what will happen in the last case.
