Find the specific heat of an unknown metal if a 35.5 g sample initially at 99.6 oC produced a final water temperature of 26.1 oC when placed in a calorimeter containing 100.5 g of water initially at 20.2 oC.

#1
q lost (metal) = 35.5* x *(26.1-99.6)
q gained (water) = 100.5 * 4.184*(26.1-20.2)
-q lost = q gained
- 35.5* x *(26.1-99.6)=100.5 * 4.184*(26.1-20.2)
solve for x
